WSC Coaching Announcement

We are pleased to announce Steve Iosifids as our new Senior Men’s Head Coach.

Steve, or Yosa as he is more commonly known, is a well-known and respected figure in the local football community with an extensive playing CV spanning close to 20 years of senior football.

Predominately playing at Victorian Premier league and NSL level, Steve enjoyed successful stints at Heidelberg United, Essendon Royals, Kingston City and Melbourne Knights.

However, his most notable achievements came during his 6-year spell at South Melbourne, claiming back-to-back NSL championships under a certain young and upcoming coach by the name of Ange Postecoglou. That all conquering South Melbourne side made their way to the inaugural FIFA club world cup played in Brazil, where Steve and his teammates took to the field against the famous 99 treble winning Manchester United side boasting the likes of Ryan Giggs and David Beckham.

Hanging up the boots just over a decade ago, Steve quickly transitioned into coaching with success continuing as he not only promoted, but guided both Caulfield Cobras and Hoppers Crossing to championship winning seasons in 2013 and 2015, as well as Altona Magic in 2018 in an assistant role which resulted in their return to NPL 1.

Having taken a year off from coaching in 2023, the local Newport resident was eager to get back into the craft and we are incredibly pleased his ambition aligned with that of our club.

Please join us in welcoming Steve to the WSC family as we look forward to another big year at JT Gray reserve in 2024!

Stay tuned as planning for the 2024 season is well underway for all our Senior and Junior team programs, with more exciting announcements due in the coming weeks.
