📣 WSC Announcement!
We are very pleased to announce that Jake Butler has signed on for the 2024 season as club Technical Director.
Being no stranger to WSC members, the capped New Zealand international came to us at the beginning of 2023 in both playing and coaching roles after a successful 20-year professional & semi-professional career at various clubs in New Zealand, Singapore and NPL Victoria.
In Jake’s short time at WSC, he not only claimed Best & Fairest as well as Players Player honours for our senior men’s team but took on coaching responsibilities for our talented u18 girls team and led them to a championship winning season whilst also initiating the Football Victoria CCC program (Club Coach Coordinator) at the club, giving valuable coaching education, resources and support throughout the year to all our junior coaches.
2024 will see Jake working in an expanded and much more comprehensive capacity at the club, overseeing the entire junior football program from u7s all the way up to u18’s for both female and male teams.
This increased scope will include playing a much more hands on role with the technical aspects of our football operations throughout the year, giving all WSC players and coaches greater individualised support.
The club will work with Jake in creating additional technical roles with gender specific lead coaches assigned to both junior girls and boys programs, these Sub TD leads will work with Jake and provide further assistance and specialised coaching support from pre-season start up right through to post season programs and activities.
Jake will also support the growth and development of our Senior Women's program in collaboration with the Girls & Womens Football Lead (Tom Bevan) and the coaching team. Additionally, he will continue to be a valued player of our Senior Men's team.
With approximately 550 registered players in 2023 and significant potential new players recently expressing interest to join, 2024 is sure to be another massive year of growth at WSC.
Stay tuned, upcoming trial/grading dates and times will be released for our accelerator squads and big pitch junior teams, along with full and comprehensive roadmap on pre-season return to training for the remainder of our junior teams in 2024.
