Williamstown Soccer Club Strengthens Women's Program for 2026
Williamstown Soccer Club's senior women's program has enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2026 season, with both our State League 2 and State League 5 teams performing strongly on and off the pitch.
As part of the club's continued commitment to growing women's football, several key initiatives were introduced for 2026, including the appointment of a dedicated Head of Women's Football. This new role reflects Williamstown's vision of building a sustainable and successful pathway for female players at all levels.
Leading the Women's Program
Rodi Sferopoulos – Head of Women's Football

Rodi Sferopoulos joins Williamstown Soccer Club with a wealth of experience, leadership and enthusiasm for the women's game. Her appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the club as we continue to invest in the development of our female football program.
Speaking about the season ahead, Rodi said:
"It's an incredibly exciting year ahead for our senior women's program. With strong State League 2 and State League 5 squads, we're building on last season's foundations and pushing our standards even higher, both on and off the pitch.
The energy around the group has been fantastic. Our players are passionate, connected and committed to driving the program forward.
This season is about showcasing the depth of talent within our club, creating an environment where our players can thrive, and continuing to grow the women's game in our community. I'm proud of what this group has already achieved and even more excited about what's still to come."
A key part of the program's success is the quality of leadership within both senior women's teams. Williamstown Soccer Club has assembled an outstanding group of coaches who bring a wealth of experience, a passion for player development and a shared commitment to helping our female footballers reach their full potential. Together, they are creating an environment where players can thrive, compete and enjoy their football.
State League 2 Coaching Team
Stephan Achellios – Head Coach
Bringing more than a decade of coaching experience since 2014, Stephan Achellios has established an impressive record of success across multiple clubs and competitions.
His achievements include:
- Two League Championships
- Three League Promotions
- State League Finals Championship Winner
- An undefeated championship season
- Guiding a team from State League 4 to State League 1 with Moreland Zebras / Brunswick Juventus
- Never finishing outside the top five at State League 1 level
Steph's proven ability to develop players, build successful teams and deliver results makes him an outstanding leader for our State League 2 squad.
Nicholas Spanos – Assistant Coach
Joining Stephan on the coaching staff is Nicholas Spanos, who brings four years of coaching experience and a strong passion for player development and tactical football.
"With a deep-rooted passion for the beautiful game, I have spent the last four years dedicated to the sidelines as a coach. My approach to football is driven by a strong focus on player development and the tactical side of the game.
Having spent the last few years coaching alongside Stephan, I'm looking forward to this next chapter and bringing our shared experience to Williamstown.
I thrive on creating structured environments where athletes can refine their technical skills while gaining a deeper understanding of positioning and game strategy. For me, coaching is about more than just the final score — it's about the long-term progression of the team and the tactical discipline required to execute a vision on the pitch."
State League 5 Coaching Team
Theo Tsouras – Head Coach
Theo Tsouras brings more than 20 years of coaching experience across junior, youth and senior football. He has built a strong reputation in player development, coaching methodology and the creation of high-performance programs, with a particular focus on structured player pathways and long-term team success.
Throughout his coaching career, Theo has guided both senior men's and senior women's teams to multiple top league finishes. His achievements also include numerous junior championships and tournament titles, highlighting his ability to develop players and teams at every level of the game.
Helen Maroulis – Assistant Coach
After more than two decades as a player, Helen Maroulis has taken the next step in her football journey by joining the senior coaching ranks.
"Soccer has been part of my life for over 20 years, and now I'm excited to give back in a new way. After 20-plus years of playing the game I love, I'm stepping into a new role as Assistant Coach for our Senior State League 5 team, while still proudly coaching our Under 10 girls — building skills, confidence and helping shape the next generation as I continue to grow in my own coaching journey."
Helen's passion for player development and commitment to the club's female pathway make her a valuable addition to the senior women's program.
